Dance Teacher Training Academy (“DTTA”, “we”, “us”) trains dance teachers for IDTA Freestyle qualifications. We are responsible for the personal information you give us, and this policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

We are a small organisation and are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer. For anything about your personal information, email us at the address above.
The information we collect
When you apply or get in touch
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Which qualification you’re interested in, your dance background and experience
- How you heard about us
- Anything you tell us in emails, messages or your suitability call
When you book your suitability call
- Your name, email address and the date and time you choose
When you enrol and take the course
- The details in your Student Training Agreement, including your address
- Payment records: amounts, dates and payment references (we do not see or store full card numbers)
- The details needed to enter you for IDTA examinations
- Attendance records, coursework, your portfolio, video submissions of your practical work, feedback and assessment results
- Recordings of live online sessions, which may include your image, voice and name if your camera or microphone is on
Health information
If you choose to tell us about an injury, a health condition or access needs so we can support you safely, we will only use that information for that purpose, with your explicit consent, and share it only with the people who need to know.
When you visit our website
Our website host automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site running securely. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add visitor statistics, we will use a tool that does not use cookies or identify you personally. To be confirmed
How we use your information, and our lawful basis
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each way we use your information:

You don’t have to give us your information, but we need it to consider your application and deliver your course. Without it, we can’t offer you a place. We do not make decisions about you using automated decision-making or profiling.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We only share it with:
- The IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association), to enter you for examinations and record your results. The IDTA is responsible for how it uses your information under its own privacy policy.
- IDTA examiners who conduct your mock and final examinations.
- Service providers who run parts of our business for us and may only use your information on our instructions:
- Cloudflare: website hosting
- Web3Forms: sending website form messages to our inbox
- Google Workspace: email and documents
- Calendly: booking suitability calls
- Zoom: live online sessions and recordings
- Stripe: card payments To be confirmed

- Professional advisers, such as our accountant or solicitor, where needed.

International transfers
Some of our service providers are based in, or store information in, the United States. When your information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected, either because the UK government has confirmed the destination provides adequate protection (including the UK–US data bridge for certified companies) or by using contracts approved by the ICO.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and applications that don’t lead to enrolment: 12 months To be confirmed
- Student records, agreements and payment records: 6 years after your course ends, as required for tax and legal purposes
- Recordings of live online sessions: deleted when your course ends To be confirmed
- Video submissions and coursework: deleted 12 months after your course ends To be confirmed
- Health information: deleted when your course ends
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe
How we keep it safe
We use secure, reputable services with access protected by passwords and two-step sign-in, and only Loraine, Lara and the people who help run DTTA can access student information.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use your information
- object to us using your information on the basis of our legitimate interests
- ask us to transfer your information to you or another organisation
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, please tell us first by emailing info@danceteachertraining.co.uk with “Data protection complaint” in the subject line. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as quickly as we can.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Age
Our courses are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we’ll let current students know.
